Football Tickets Always Gets the Boys Talking

Drum Roll Please....
So this is officially my first post ever! I know crazy right? I have been wanting to start a blog for sometime but could not think of a topic that was truthfully worth my effort- this stuff kinda takes planning.

So this is how it all happened....
I was talking to my mother on the phone, which is an everyday occurrence,  ever since I left for college I am pretty sure she has testosterone overload because of my dad and two handsome brothers ( a woman can only endure a certain amount of UFC and conversation about chest hair and stuff, so in a way I feel bad to have left her in man-cave). But she suggested we write a book about our family after this long conversation...dont worry the story will be told (hint: it has to do with the title of this post). So then the brilliant idea popped into my head and i figured "THAT IS WHAT MY BLOG CAN BE ABOUT!" ( I was seriously that excited).

So this is my new blog about all the abnormal and weird things that happen in my family and my life in general. There are some rules (thanks to my mom, it is like I am living back in the house with a curfew and let me tell you it sucks, but I will respect her rules because I am obedient...) So the rules are that I don't mention my dad or brothers real names and I won't make my family look too crazy. These will be pretty easy, except the crazy part.

So my brothers have nicknames and I am going to call my dad, dad. My mom, mom. My brother who is 16 and is 2 years younger than me is going to be Batter (he got this nickname when he played t-ball and that is just too cute to pass up a name like that). My brother who is 14 and 4 years younger than me is going to be Gumby (this name came from a day this summer when he literally looked like Gumby because he was wearing all green. He for real is really skinny and looked like Gumby- it is the best nickname for him ever. ps. that is what he is under in my phone too)

Oh and....
shhhhhh...my mom is the only one in my family who knows about this so keep it a secret.

Football Tickets Always Gets the Boys Talking
I go to my grandma's house in 3 days and in one week I am going to see my family for the first time since August. I am pretty excited. I thought it would be really awesome to get tickets to the Border Showdown ( which if you dont know it is a football game against University of Missouri and University of Kansas). I got enough tickets for everyone in the family, but I had to wake up at 4 o'clock in the morning to get these tickets.

I waited and waited in the frigid temperatures until 7 o'clock when I then held in my hand 6 tickets for the 11th and 12th row. Awesome I know.

I call my mom at approximately 7:30 am and she goes "yaaaaaay I am so excited, 'dad' it is 12th row, did you hear me? 12th row. It is Hannah she got 12th row. yaaaaay i am so excited.bye" (Do you ever talk to someone on the phone like that? Half the time they are talking to someone else and your just chilling on the other end of the line, yeah it is rough.)

I then text my brothers, both of them.

Another drum roll please...
Batter texted me back! woah this never, ever, ever happens.....and it gets way better it was more than a "yea"! Ok this was for real a shocker. Batter is the kind of texter who seriously you will send a novel text message to and then he responds with a "yea". So this response was kinda a big deal. It might even go down as the longest conversation we have had since August.

Are you longing to know what this text message said....
"ill wear yellow  those are sweet seats to"
ladies and gentleman we have beaten a record. This is amazing!

Gumby did not respond :*(

After taking a 2 hour nap that was practically heaven on earth,  I went to the bookstore to get my parents...get excited...matching t-shirts for the game! I feel like the best perk of a daughter going to a large university is the amazingly dorky matching mom/dad t-shirts. I cant wait to see them in pictures with these on. I love it for real!

So I called my dad about what size he needed and he told me but then out of no where he started having this conversation about grades, how I am doing, classes, ect.

This is my fathers parenting skill- wait until the last minute than parent all at once.  It is like when he dropped me off for college and had the drug, sex, alcohol, and miscellaneous talk all in one night. I dont really understand the concept of this but whatever works. So he is going on an all about school and my grades and all I can think in my head is "this would have been a really good talk like a month ago" but hey at least he is trying. Sometimes he just likes to save it all til the end and I am sure the football tickets really got him thinking about my academic excellence here at Mizzou....

I love my family and especially the boys in my family. I although don't miss the fake wrestling ring in the basement, gaming lingo, or their views on certain subjects, I can honestly say I am ready to see them.

I just hope they talk more in person than via text or the phone....
